We’re pleased to introduce you to Rich Bailey, whom we have chosen to lead our Sales and Customer Service team into the future.  As Sales Manager, Rich will guide our in-house customer service team and our 10 regional sales representatives in our efforts to deliver the best in trees and customer service.

Rich brings 24 years of green industry experience to our company. A graduate of Purdue University in Landscape Horticulture and Design, he has worked as a designer, project manager and sales associate for landscape design/build firms and as a regional sales representative for large wholesale nurseries.

Most recently, Rich served as Business Development Manager for Mariani Plants of Kenosha, WI. His varied background and management experience with wholesale nurseries and landscape design/build firms, plus many years servicing garden centers, landscape contractors, city foresters, landscape architects and other specifiers, prepares him well for leading the Schmidt sales team in providing top-notch customer service. To ensure a smooth transition, he will be aided for the next several months by our outgoing Sales Manager, Dave Sheline, who is retiring.

Art Anderson, General Manager and Chief Operating Officer, invites you to meet Rich at your earliest convenience, stating,

“We are very grateful to have someone with a great depth of varied experience, diverse background, and proven customer service skills to lead the sales department at Schmidt’s. Rich’s personality, values and strong work ethic will greatly benefit our customers and strengthen the JFS team.”

Rich assumed his management duties on September 1, within days of completing a cross-country move from Illinois with his wife, Chassidy, and three children. After settling into their new home near the nursery, Rich looks forward to continuing his passion for outdoor activities including camping, fishing and hiking, youth sports, and family and community activities. He looks forward to connecting with you soon.
