The dainty flowers and delicate form of Japanese Snowbell (Styrax japonicus) make this small tree a favorite of plant connoisseurs. Its small, pure white, bell-shaped flowers hang below the leaves in late spring and early summer, maturing to handsome bean sized brown fruits that attract birds.

Japanese Snowbell (Styrax japonicus) is especially useful in today's smaller scale landscapes, as it matures to a height and spread of approximately 25 feet. Medium-green summer foliage becomes yellow in the fall.

Snowcone® Japanese Snowbell (Styrax japonicus ‘JFS-D’) is a refreshing new selection of this popular small garden tree. It features the same pure white, bell-shaped, pendulous flowers as the species, but is unique for its densely uniform and pyramidal shape. Picture an inverted cone, and you’ll have a pretty good representation of its shape. Mature height is approximately 25 feet, with a spread of about 20 feet.
Another feature that makes this Schmidt selection appear to be a winner is heavy flowering at an early age. Also, its leaves are slightly smaller and more refined.
