National Cheesecake Day

Royal Raindrops® Cheesecake was one of seven magnificent desserts baked in honor of National Cheesecake Day, April 16, 2007. Drizzled with Grand Marnier-laced orange marmalade, the chocolate-orange creation was crowned by chocolate leaves and the blooms of Royal Raindrops® Crabapple. One of 53 trees introduced to the marketplace by J. Frank Schmidt & Son Co. of Boring, OR., Royal Raindrops® Crabapple features cutleaf purple foliage and bright red, persistent fruits. Magenta-pink blossoms smother its branches in spring and top elegant desserts with style.

To our knowledge, National Cheesecake Day, an obscure yet joyously celebrated holiday, is recognized only at the 60-year-old nursery. Here, the long-standing tradition of cheesecake revelry marks the advent of spring planting and eases the pain of tax filing time. Other entries included Double Chocolate, Caramel Apple, Strawberry, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Strawberry/Blueberry, and Caramel Southern Pecan.
